Regular 8mm movie film was never sold commercially with a sound strip but some people did attach a sound strip themselves. Super 8 film has the option but you had to buy the film with the sound strip on it and you had to have a sound camera and microphone. 16mm had both magnetic and optical. On the order form you can let us know if you think your film has sound on it. It does take extra effort to capture the sound and incorporate it into the requested formats. So, we do charge a little more for sound film.

We can not capture any digital audio like Dolby Digital or Sony Dynamic Digital Sound.

      

      

The above picture is just an example. 16mm sound film came in many different varieties. 16mm film with optical sound will have sprocket holes on 1 side. The other side will carry the audio track.

Super 8 sound could be recorded with a microphone during filming or could also be recorded using a projector when the film played. The quality of the sound varied widely.

El Paso Fun Facts: Originally claimed in 1598 by Spain and settled in 1659 by Spanish colonists, it was named El Paso ("the crossing") after the route to the north. When owned by Mexico, what is now El Paso was part of a larger city that included Ciudad Ju"rez on the south bank of the Rio Grande. During the Mexican Revolution, Francisco "Pancho" Villa lived and organized his forces in El Paso. After the Mexican American war in 1848, El Paso passed into US hands, becoming a city in 1873, and soon after that, the stomping grounds for legendary figures Billy the Kidd, Wyatt Earp, and Pat Garrett.

Texas Fun Facts: After several smaller insurrections, the Texas Revolution broke out, and the state became an independent nation in 1835. However, the newly formed Texas Republic was unable to defend itself from further incursions by Mexican troops, and eventually negotiated with the U.S. to join the union in 1845. Spanish missionaries were the first European settlers in Texas, founding San Antonio in 1718.
