Some customer in Gilbert may be wondering just how much information is actually on film!! That's a good question. Film is an analogue source, like a painting. There is a certain resolution needed to faithfully capture all the details in a digital form. The following images are a simplification to illustrate some general points and are not exact.
In general it is recommended that you scan at or above the resolution of the film. For 8mm and Super 8 that means scanning at HD or 2K.

Gilbert Fun Facts: The town's population has skyrocketed from under 2,000 in 1970 to over 156,000 according to a 2004 census estimate. Known during much of the early 20th century as the 'Hay Capital of the World', Gilbert was primarily an agricultural community until recent years. Concurrent with the town's population growth, Gilbert has developed and transitioned rapidly to its present status as a modern suburb of the Phoenix Metropolitan Area. Incorporated in 1920, Gilbert is a large town in central Arizona, located approximately 24 miles southeast of Phoenix.
Arizona Fun Facts: Arizona is the sixth largest state in the country in terms of area. Its population has always been predominantly urban, particularly since the mid-20th century, when urban and suburban areas began growing rapidly at the expense of the countryside. Arizona, the Grand Canyon state, achieved statehood on February 14, 1912, the last of the 48 coterminous United States to be admitted to the union. Originally part of New Mexico, the land was ceded to the United States in 1848, and became a separate territory in 1863.
